Today, Liz Cheney, the No. 3 Republican in the House, is expected to be removed from her leadership position.
Her role in the party has increasingly become untenable for many. Ms. Cheney has continued to speak out in the starkest of terms against President Donald Trump’s role in fomenting the Jan. 6 riots and the continued insistence that the 2020 election was stolen.
In doing so, she has found herself on a lonely political island.
We look at the factors behind her ouster and the new requirements for Republican leadership.
