PM pays tribute to Battle of Britain fliers

Boris Johnson has paid tribute to Battle of Britain airmen 80 years on.

On his Facebook page, ahead of a planned “People’s PMQs” session, he said: “80 years ago today, the Luftwaffe began their bombing raids on Britain in the start of what history would later call the Battle of Britain.

“Our brave airmen took to the skies to defend this country. Many would never return. It was these few, as Churchill said, who turned the tide of the war and defended these islands from fascism and tyranny.

“Today we remember their bravery and sacrifice.”
