Watch: Rishi Sunak delivers speech on AI as prime minister says dangers must be faced ‘head on’

Watch as Rishi Sunak delivers a speech on artificial intelligence (AI) on Thursday, 26 October.

The prime minister’s remarks came as the government warns that AI will pose significant security risks to the UK within two years.

According to a report released to coincide with Mr Sunak’s major speech, AI has the potential to “enhance” terrorist capabilities including in propaganda, bioweapons development and attack planning.

The analysis – published by the Government Office for Science, also says that by 2025, AI is expected to increase the frequency and sophistication of cyber-attacks, scams, fraud, and other crimes.

A wider threat to humanity from AI cannot be ruled out, the report adds.

“Doing the right thing, not the easy thing, means being honest with people about the risks from these technologies,” Mr Sunak was expected to say in the speech.
